Allostasis, defined as the process of achieving stability through adaptive change in response to environmental stressors, represents a significant advancement in contemporary stress science beyond traditional homeostatic frameworks. This article presents a conceptual synthesis integrating the allostasis framework—encompassing allostatic load and overload—with the perspective of Islamic psychology, which understands the human being as a bio-psycho-spiritual entity with normative religious orientation. Based on a literature review of stress neuroscience, psychoneuroimmunology, and Islamic psychospiritual studies, this article formulates a two-layered integrative model: (1) a mechanistic layer, in which the brain coordinates predictive psychophysiological responses to maintain functional stability; and (2) a meaning-value layer, in which Islamic spiritual practices and resilience strategies—including sabr, tawakkal, shukr, rida, ikhlas, tawbah, and Sufi exercises—shape appraisal and regulatory coping behavior. The results of this conceptual synthesis suggest that Islamic psychospiritual practices are theoretically coherent candidates for allostatic regulatory strategies, while acknowledging that direct biomarker evidence for specific Islamic practices remains to be established through future empirical research. This article contributes to the development of an integrative academic framework for stress and coping that is grounded in both modern stress science and Islamic psychological thought.
